In July 2004, a new coffee shop, Mocha Delites, moved into the vacant space in BuggyWorks Building 100. Now almost 12 years later, Mocha as it’s come to be called affectionately, is a BuggyWorks and Jefferson Station fixture and a favorite for tenants and community members alike. The shop used to be a franchise, so while there are a few other locations in the Metro Atlanta area, our Mocha Delites location is now independently owned and operated by Sun Kwon. Starting the business fulfilled Ms. Kwon’s dream of owning her own business and gave her the flexible hours she was looking for. It also brought delicious sandwiches, handcrafted beverages and sweets to the BuggyWorks community. One of Ms. Kwon’s favorite aspects of the Mocha Delites location is the tight knit community that comes with calling BuggyWorks home. When she started her business, in addition to flexible hours and the ability to be in control of the operations, serving a close, tight knit community was at the top of her ‘must-have’ list and that’s exactly what she’s found here. “It really has become my second home!” she says of the location, adding that “It’s always a pleasure serving the BuggyWorks Community.” Another plus to her location? Its proximity to downtown East Point and that ‘old town’ charm we’ve all come to know and love. As the sole owner and operator, Ms. Kwon runs all aspects of Mocha Delites, from the business operations to serving up her handcrafted sandwiches, entrees, coffee, specialty drinks, smoothies, teas and treats. Her secret to balancing it all is simple, yet effective. “[I] Do my best every day. And I make food for my customers that I would serve to my own family.” And, it is that approach to her business that she hopes will aid her as she works to expand her customer base, and serve even more of the BuggyWorks and East Point Community. Of course, we can’t talk about Mocha Delites without talking a little about its wonderfully diverse menu. From the standard coffee, tea and soft drinks to the specialty drinks and special entrees, East Point’s favorite coffee shop offers a little bit of something for every taste. But, if you ask the proprietor for her favorite meal, she opts for a healthy yet tasty option – the Veggie Wrap and a Ginger Tea. Oh, and if you’re in the office on Thursdays, be sure to pay Ms. Kwon a visit and try her homemade Fried Rice, a customer favorite, for lunch! Mocha Delites is located in Building 100 in the BuggyWorks Complex. The next time you need to grab lunch or are looking for a pick me up, be sure to stop by!

“Stressed Out” (CC BY 2.0) by haynie.thomas36 Running your own business has its rewards, but it also has plenty of stress, too. Here are a few simple, healthy changes you can make to your daily routine to make your life a little bit easier, and make it easier to enjoy being your own boss again. Rethink Your Caffeine Fix Coffee is every entrepreneur’s weapon of choice when it comes to waking up in the morning. But, cutting back on the joe, and introducing green tea into your diet will help with anxiety and your overall health. Think of it this way, coffee replaces your body’s natural ability to energize you, green tea stimulates that ability. Get Up and Out Starting or ending your day with exercise not only helps to keep your heart healthy, it helps you to burn off excess stress so you can face the next challenge with a clearer head. Find a Diffuser Aromatherapy is powerful in helping to keep your stress levels low. Most office buildings would prefer that you refrain from burning candles, but a reed diffuser in a soothing scent is a great addition to your desk. Image Courtesy EPMSA Newsletter The City of East Point features some beautiful, historic buildings, and now we’re sharing one of them with the world. In a public/private partnership, the City of East Point and a film company have restored and improved the building to make it a magnet for both film location scouts and tourists alike. The first project filming in the old library is named ‘Stranger Things’ and a quick Google search found that this is a Netflix series starring Winona Ryder set to be released in 2016 (no word on whether or not Ryder will be filming in East Point). And, according to the January Downtown East Point Newsletter, location scouts in the area are highly interested in filming upcoming projects in the old library.
